We’re a team of journalists, filmmakers, writers, policy innovators, community organizers, artists, and creatives, each bringing unique perspectives on how to evolve local journalism.

Cassie Young Co-Founder, Managing Director Cassie Young is a co-founder and managing editor of Grey Matter Media and Matter News. She holds master's degrees in social work and public policy from Ohio State University. Cassie previously worked for Franklin County Child Support for almost a decade managing research trials to apply behavioral science to improve government programs. She has also been previously involved in racial justice, drug policy and criminal justice reform organizing efforts in Columbus.
Jaelynn Grisso Co-Founder, Interim Editor Jaelynn is one of Grey Matter Media and Matter News' cofounders. She formerly served as the editor-in-chief of Matter and managing director of parent company GMM. She is now the interim editor. Jaelynn has worked for Mother Jones Magazine, Honolulu Civil Beat, and six other news publications over the last decade.
Marisa Twigg Co-Founder Marisa Twigg is a co-founder of Grey Matter Media. For more than seven years, she has created impactful visual media content professionally in both the public and private sectors. She graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in environmental policy and decision making, focusing on journalism, environmental and social justice. Outside of work, Marisa is an avid outdoor adventurer and nature enthusiast. She lives in Hilltop and enjoys gardening, hiking Zaleski State Forest or kayaking Ohio's beautiful lakes and scenic rivers.
